Living Letters
Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
2 Corinthians 3:3 - NKJV
Under the ministry of Paul the church at Corinth gave their hearts to be written on by the Holy Spirit. This was so evident to Paul that he declared them living letters of Christ. He referred to them as being Christ's walking epistles. Note, though, that this was not just written. As it was for them so it is to be be for us also!
What you are in life is a reflection of what you have written in your heart! According to this world what you are depends on things like the letters they've given you to write behind you name such as Ph.D or Th.D. Heaven knows, though, that the most important writing in your life will be that which is on your heart. You will be an epistle of Christ as much as Christ by His Spirit has written there. Your heart gets written on like this while you commune with Christ over God's Word. In that condition of heart you shine with the reflection of His glory! Prov.23:7.
It is our lives that tell the greatest story! It is not things like the bumper stickers on our cars that are the chief communicators of the Gospel. It's not writing in ink that conveys most incisively Christ's message. It is rather the writing of the Holy Spirit on our hearts. This is the writing that profoundly changes the life of a Christian. By this writing the Christian becomes a living, breathing, walking conveyor of the Gospel. In this condition you can, "Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you." 1Pet.3:15.
