He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."
Psalm 91:1-2 - NKJV.
For years as a young Christian I could only look on in wonder at Psalm 91. It is so marvellous in its picture of God's complete protection of a believer's life. Yet I wasn't a full participant in its promised provision of protection.
I believed everyone of its precious promises so why not? I hadn't personalised it. I hadn't begun living out my personal part in it! I was holding it out in front of me as a utopian vision instead of a practical promise to me in this life.
Then one day I heard someone preach it who was living in the reality of it. I suddenly woke up to how I'd missed out. From that moment I began taking it to myself. I brought it home to me, my family and my home. Psalm 91 became our psalm and the picture of our home!
