Believing and knowing
We have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
John 6:69 - NJKV
By email a lady asked me, "How can I ever know that God and Jesus are real?" I told her of my own final steps towards Jesus and then I told her how I prayed, "God if you are real and you personally love me - show me." it was that prayer that started something off for me that has never really stopped since!
Look at the verse above. Peter declared on behalf of the twelve, "We have come to believe and know." It was not a knowing in an intellectual sense. It was a knowing in an absolute sense. They knew on the inside. They knew in their innermost being that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God. It was disclosed to them by the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul describes how coming to such an absolute knowing takes place. He writes, "God has shone in your hearts to give the light of the knowledge..." In other words, God sends forth the divine light of absolute knowledge into your heart. Your heart becomes so illuminated by that knowledge that you say, "I believe and know!". Eph.1:17-19.
What an enviable state to be in! This is the state the apostle Peter came into. Jesus told him, "My Father, who is in Heaven, has revealed this to you. Blessed are you." Have you heard a word of God that speaks to you? Stay with that word until the Holy Spirit reveals the truth, power and preciousness of it within you. His revelation will come to you like a explosion of light within. You will know that it is so. You will know with an absolute knowledge of God that is like having divine light in your innermost being! Mat.16:16.
Ask the Father for His illumination!
