The Daily Guide
Look Up!
I will lift up my eyes to the hills - From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved. The Lord is your keeper.
Psalm 121:1-3,5 - NKJV
The verse above is taken from a psalm that has been very dear to me since the moment I got saved! It was one of the first psalms I heard sung. Later when my children were little I would take them in my arms at night and sing it to them. It always brought peace and sleep to them no matter how upset they were as babies. Prov.3:24.
Psalm 121 is such a powerful psalm for our time - these days we live in! It is God's Word reaching down through the ages to comfort and encourage us in our moment in time. It is God telling us to look up towards Him when on the earth there seems only distress. What do you see when you look up towards Him? Besides the Lord Himself you also see reminders of God's marvellous acts of love, mercy and rescue for His people! Focus on those reminders! You can do this by reading aloud a scripture passage that records God's wondrous works - a psalm for example. It's important that you constantly speak of God's wonders of creation and salvation. Psa.105:1-2.
Prayer time can be a time of experiencing yourself getting restored to a divine perspective on your life and its events. Begin prayer with praise and worship looking towards the Lord. Then have a time of rehearsing to yourself God's wonderful works of covenant love for His people. Do this and you will again see God's caring, helping, saving hand held out towards you and holding you as much as you'll let Him!
Look to God and speak of His wonderful works!
