Rejoice in the Lord

by Pastor Simon

(Even) though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls - Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk 3:17-18 - NKJV

Temptation was hard upon Habakkuk to get down in the face of the circumstances nevertheless he rejoiced in his God. In doing this he was getting it right. There is no better response he could have made to trying times. Habakkuk determined that, no matter what the conditions, his mouth was going to praise God with joyful lips.

The one who rejoices in tribulation, sets out on the route to victory. Your rejoicing in times of trial lays down a run-way in front of you. It's a run-way from which you can take off and soar up over the circumstances. Rejoicing releases you from being locked into only seeing through the eyes of your natural man. It leaves you able to see with your spirit man. You can then see what good things God has provided for you. From your place seated in heavenly places with Christ you see afresh what you've received in Him. The act of rejoicing also releases gratitude. Gratitude is an attitude you carry with you that attracts favour from others around you. Joy is released from your heart each time you commit to rejoicing. The joy of the Lord is your strength. Neh.8:10b, Psa.103:1-4.

You please your Heavenly Father whenever you praise and rejoice in Him in spite of the visible circumstances. What's more it demonstrates that in spite of the devil trying to tribulate you, you're refusing to be tribulated! You're resisting oppression and embracing encouragement. The rejoicing you're doing declares loudly, "I'm not moved by what I see! My God is my provider, the One in whom I trust!" Phil.1:18-19.

Rejoice at the good things God has declared!
