The Way of Prayer

by Pastor Simon

As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

Acts 13:3 - NKJV

Perhaps you've got your directions from the Lord. Are you now rushing right on with those directions? Stop a moment - those wonderful things you've seen and heard from the Lord won't happen without His dynamic power! Prayer is like the ignition key in your car. To get anywhere in the power of God you have to make time for prayer to turn it on!

The Holy Spirit's direction often comes in times of worship and devotion - usually in fact! In Acts the disciples knew they needed to get their directions from God so they fasted. Fasting means there's no need to leave off worship and devotion for meal preparation and eating - you can stay wholly in the Lord's presence ministering to Him and receiving from Him. At such a time the Lord spoke wonderfully to send out Paul and Barnabas. The next thing that happened was special. You'd have expected them to pack their bags and get going. They didn't. Instead, they stopped before they started and prayed some more. Then they got going. For safety and success as you move forward do the same!

Here's how to set out into your new vision, your day or your week: 1) Pray for the plan. 2) Pray for the power for the plan! Step one requires time waiting in the Lord's presence. Step two requires presenting your petitions specifically. In this way you'll go forwards under God's power and provision! God will be supplying all the power and even the road and bridges to travel on. Isa.42:16

Make your progress by prayer!
