Find release in rejoicing!

by Pastor Simon

The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Mark 4:14-15 - NKJV

I was having one of those days when I found myself getting niggled. There was a little attack on my health followed by some uncooperativeness from my bank. Then I recognised what was going on. It was like the Parable of the Sower. Tribulation was arising as an attack on the Word of God that had been sown in my heart.

Satan hates to see the Word of God getting sown by the Holy Spirit in your life. He knows that the sown Word if it gets to take root will give you liberty. He also knows its capable of giving a clear vision for life in Christ along with faith that is adequate to possess it. For this reason he moves quickly to stop the sown Word taking root. Tribulation or persecution arising can often be an example of this. If you aren't rooted deeply in Christ then your endurance can be short and when tribulation or persecution comes it is capable of throwing you off balance and making you fall away from the Word you've received.

Once I recognised what was going on I took action. What action did the apostle Paul take in the face of the tribulation of getting thrown into a dungeon? Jesus said, "Rejoice and be exceeding glad!" Following that counsel, the apostle Paul sang hymns to God. This protected the Word in his heart so that it could give him faith. I did likewise on the day I was "having one of those days" with things getting to me. I rejoiced. I rejoiced to know God through Jesus Christ. My rejoicing brought release from the pressure of trouble! Mat.5:11-12, Act.16:25.

Look after the Word you have in your heart!
