Choose To Love
Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.

There was one particular week when I was going through battles staying out of contention and tit for tat exchanges. Some of the people I met had been a challenge to my decision to walk in God's love. Nevertheless, I was stirred to keep myself in His love and win through because I recognised how serious a threat to my spiritual well-being my flesh's passionate urgings were. Contention - with its offspring envy, strife and division - create an insensibility of the heart to God's Word. When we're in that condition His Word can't bless us as it should with its nurturing, nourishing and strengthening.
How do you keep yourself out of contention? By keeping yourself in the love of God! In God's love, for example, when you are wronged you make a decision to give God's love place instead of your passions. In God's love you are patient with people. In God's love you forgive. You have to choose to love with God's love. Walking in God's love is a decision of your will - not a response to your feelings. You will be greatly aided in that decision by praying in the Holy Spirit. Praying in the Holy Spirit builds you up on your faith. Jude 20-21.
You have to consciously keep yourself walking in God's love. You will need to do this in spite of the wrongs you suffer, the way you feel, the circumstances around you or the people you may come up against. How do you do that? You pray in the Holy Spirit! To keep yourself in the love of God you can pray in the Holy Spirit! 1Cor.13:4-8.
Pray in the Holy Spirit and be spiritually built up!
