God who teaches

by Pastor Simon

Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.

Psalm 25:8-9 - NKJV

God delights in communicating His counsel, His wisdom and His guidance to us by His Spirit. Someone once said, "God's Spirit is always broadcasting. We just need to tune in." This is what David did. David would pray, "Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me" and then he would look to the Lord to receive from Him the guidance he needed. In whatever situation you are in God desires for you to know His direction on how to act or what to say. See Psa.27:11, 1Chron.14:14, Isa.48:17.

What do you have to do if you want the teaching and leading of the Holy Spirit? You have to seek for it in prayer! You have to inquire of the Lord and get quiet before Him to know His response. This quietness isn't necessarily being silent but it is having your mind and emotions quiet. I often hear from the Lord while I'm praising Him with my mouth. My soul is quiet though because first I poured out my heart to Him and committed everything troubling me to Him. The still, small voice of God's Spirit comes to you in the quiet of your heart. In those moments as you are yielded and sensitive to Him He will teach you and guide you. Psa.46:10, Phil.4:6-8, 1Kgs.19:12.

May you know the Holy Spirit intimating the things of God to you in the quiet of your heart. You have to learn to attend to the still, small voice of God's Spirit. Every time you study God's Word you have an opportunity to know His teaching and guidance. Every time you meditate on God's Word ask to be borne along and taught by the Holy Spirit. Joh.16:13.

Hear from the Lord in quietness!
