Bless God

by Pastor Simon

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits.

Psalm 103:1-2 - NKJV

It's easy to see how God can bless us but what do we have that we can bless God with? We can bless Him with our praises. David told his soul not to forget all God's benefits because in remembering he would have plenty to praise God about. It didn't matter what was going on, David always had something to praise God about. This blessed God!

I've looked at David's life through his journals. By journals I mean the Psalms, for this is one thing that they are. I've watched him in the Psalms praise God even in the worst of his troubles. And do you know what I've noticed? I've noticed that every time he did that then an overflow of God's favour and blessing came to him! This overflow turned back the tide of his trouble. I've also noticed the same thing happen in my life. In the times when I've blessed God in spite of troubles then it hasn't been long before I've started to see God's favour showing up in my life. God's favour and His blessings have made it so that I have come out of trouble and moved into a quiet and good place.

I think the devil must hate it when God's children insist on blessing God in spite of the squeeze he's put on them. He was trying to coerce them into forsaking God's will and ways but instead they commit themselves to praise and blessing the Lord. He got the opposite from what he looked to get! It's enough to make him stop tribulating you! And God because you are blessing Him by your praises finds opportunity to bless you.

Bless God at all times, no matter what's happening!
