Don't look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don't fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life - to God! - is vigorous and requires total attention.
Matthew 7:13-14 - The Message Translation.
You have a choice! You can live your Christianity like it's a club or you can live it vigorously with total attention. The first way gets you among a big crowd of people who feel good about themselves but need lots of doctors, credit companies and crisis counsellors. The second way gets you walking with God on the way of life.
On the way of life you find life - the life of God evident in your life. On the way of life you find blessings - the blessings of Abraham that are to come on you through Jesus Christ. Your life is meant to be overtaken with these blessings! It will only happen on the way of life. How do you get on it? By dropping out of a Sunday school club religion and giving instead your total attention to the vigorous way of life revealed to us in the Bible by God's Spirit.
