[For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be.
Romans 4:18 - Amplified Bible.
With the limited, frail vision of his human hope gone Abraham took the unlimited, solid vision of his God-given hope. In this hope he believed God, believing that He was able and willingly to do all He had promised to perform. This hope caused him to wait in patience for the thing that he couldn't yet see.
Can you recognise your own need for such hope? Abraham's hope was hope from God. Such hope is a vision of good with intense expectation of obtaining it. It's having a fully formed picture within you of yourself in possession of something as yet unseen yet promised to you by God. How do you come by such hope? By spending time with the promises letting the Holy Spirit paint a picture of their fulfilment on your heart!
