God's unfailing compassions!
Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not, They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23 - NKJV
What happened has happened! Perhaps you have acted wrong or spoken wrong and now you feel awful about it but it is done. It can be repented of with God and sometimes amended with people. You can't go back and undo it though. Thank God, then, that His prophet Jeremiah told us, "His compassions never run out. They are new every morning." This gives me comfort. I run to God for this. My heart rejoices that as a child of God I can start again, start afresh, today in life.
The stage is often reached in situations in our lives where we just have to turn the page and write on! It gets to the point where things can't be re-written - as much as we would like them to be. There comes the moment where we have to let go of the past. Perhaps also we have to pray, "God, I know all this didn't turn out the way it ought to have done. Forgive me for the parts of it I messed up on and help me to forgive those who messed up in the parts they had. Now lead me forwards by Your Spirit to make a better job of things in the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray."
You don't have to live through yesterday's failures again today! Let this day herald a new beginning for you. God has compassions for you today as fresh as the day you first knew them. Experience His faithfulness and accept His compassions. Yesterday (or many yesterdays ago) God gave you divine visions of good to come in your life. May today usher in the tomorrow you dreamed of yesterday! Jer.29:11, Heb.9:11.
