The habit of listening
The sheep which are mine are in the habit of listening to my voice, and I know them by experience, and they take the same road that I take with me, and I give to them eternal life.
John 10:27-28 - Wuest's Expanded Translation
Don't let anyone, not even yourself, tell you that you can't hear from God! Our Lord Jesus Christ says you can! You might not hear Him audibly but in your heart you can hear the delicate whispering voice of His Spirit. You might not be able to deliver what His voice has said in a word for word message but you will have a general impression of the direction He is guiding or the action He is prompting.
The Holy Spirit speaks in you. At first you might think it is just you but that voice is different from "just you". It's different because His voice doesn't arise in your mind it arises in your heart. Your mind gets to hear about it from your heart. One way this is happens is that the Spirit speaks to you in your heart with scripture. He brings phrases or portions of scripture up to your mind that He first whispers in your heart. John the Beloved refers to this as bringing Christ's words to your remembrance. These words then shine light on any situation you may be in. These words comfort, encourage and show you the way forward. Mat.10:20.
Paul's opening words to Timothy concerning the last days reveals the level of plainness with which God's Spirit will speak. Paul wrote, "God's Spirit specifically says..." This shows the Holy Spirit's willingness to declare things plainly to you. Pray a prayer of David, "O Lord, lead me in a plain path!" Attend to hearing from God's Spirit and hear like the early disciples did. See 1Tim.4:1, Psa.27:11, Act.13:2.
Yes, you can hear God's voice!
