Joy And Peace
For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12 - NKJV
How about that for a promise of God to you! That promise became yours the moment you accepted Jesus as your Saviour. With your acceptance of Him He brought you into the New Covenant. Now you can always live as one who goes out with joy. You can be continually led out with peace. You have Jesus ahead of you as your Shepherd. You have the Holy Spirit with you as your guide. You have God's word in your heart as your light. 1Joh.3:2.
Be confident and excited about the path ahead of you! Now you've come to Jesus you can expect joy and peace to accompany you and the very scenery you pass through to greet your arrival. The path and the character of your life has changed since you came to Jesus! Before that you were under the curse which was hanging over the whole earth because of sin. Now in Christ you are redeemed from the curse so the blessings of Abraham may come on you. Before you were without God in the world now you are with Him. Before you had no shepherd now you have Jesus. Before you had no comforter now you have the Holy Spirit. Gal.3:13-14, Eph.4:11-13.
In my church we sing a song with the words of that verse. It's a joyous song of celebration. Singing that song with that promise really helps me begin rejoicing from the heart. Whenever I'm singing it I'm picturing myself walking amidst lush green hills. I feel like Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music when she sang, "The hills are alive with the sound of music!"
Go out today with joy! Let peace lead!
