The farmer's blessing!

by Pastor Simon

He who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:25 - NKJV

The blessed or rewarded lifestyle is like to that of farming. The promise of a harvest is always there but there's always a lot of work to be done. God provides the sun, soil, seed and water yet a crop comes only after the farmer has laboured in the field. It is this way for the Christian too. The soil must be prepared. The seed must be sown and then protected from birds. The ground must be kept weed free. Mar.4:13-20.

Do you want a harvest of peace and liberty? I'm sure you do. Here's a four step plan for seeing that harvest come into your life: 1) You'll need to get serious about your Word study time - this is your sowing of seed in the soil of your heart. 2) You'll need to apply the Word to your life - this is rooting your seedling deep in your heart. 3) You'll need to be consistent in acting on the Word you hear - this is giving your young plant space and air to grow! 4) You'll need to keep the ground where the seed is growing weed free by "letting your petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers". Phil.4:6 - The Message.

Your work will be made worth it all when the harvest comes in! Hang in there like the farmer through the growing seasons right until the time of harvest comes. Hear the apostle Paul's word of encouragement, "Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Sow, water and weed like the good farmer and the reward of harvest will become yours! Gal.6:9.
