The Daily Guide
What do you want Lord?
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8 - NKJV
Of the 560 or so daily devotional messages I've written 75 of them make use of the word "relationship" and 45 of those speak specifically of our relationship with God! Christianity is a religion of a relationship. It is a relationship with God made possible by a blood sacrifice. By the blood sacrifice of the Lamb, Jesus, we have been justified; by the blood of Jesus we've been brought into a covenant relationship with God. We have been reconciled to the Father so that we may live in a relationship with Him! A relationship with Himself is what God wants us, His people, to enjoy! Phil.3:3.
What does the Lord require of you? If you start listening to people about it they will tell you all sorts of things! You're probably wiser than that though and you realise if you want to know what God requires of you then you'd better read what God says by God's prophets in God's Word, the Bible. Yet He says so much! Isn't it wonderful then that by His prophet Amos He summed up what He requires in a single short exhortation; it's just one verse long!
First, do justly! Your Heavenly Father executes justice for all who are oppressed and you are to be like Him. Second, love mercy! You are to set your affection on the relationship God has with you. It is a relationship rooted in covenant and expressed here by the word mercy. Third, walk with God humbly! Start taking the same road God takes in company with Him and let Him have responsibility for your well-being and your care.
Walk and talk with God!
