A Great Liberty

by Pastor Simon

He who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments...are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." Love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Romans 13:8-10 - NKJV.

Love. It sums up the commandments. It fulfills the Law. Jesus did not come to destroy the Law but He did come to fulfill it. You and I are not under the Law - Jesus took it out of our way at the cross of Calvary - but we do have to fulfill it. Love is the fulfillment of the Law! (Col.2:14.)

A great liberty has been given to us. We have been liberated from the law of Moses - the law that the disciples referred to as an unbearable yoke. We are now under the grace that brought us salvation. (Ro.6:14; Acts 15:10.)

Do not allow liberty to be used as an opportunity for your flesh or as a cloak for wickedness! (1 Pet.2:16; Gal.5:13.) This liberty is your chance to fulfill the Law by love! You are to love as Jesus loved you! You are to love your neighbour as you love yourself. You are to love with the love of God! (John 13:34; Mat. 22:39; 1 Cor.13:4-8.)

Love is your opportunity to fulfill the law!
