Keeping your heart at liberty
Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.
2 Timothy 3:13-14 - NKJV
In this world there are people who, given chance, would make your life a misery. If people move against you like that, watch your attitude in the midst of it. Don't rage against them. Instead continue in the way of Christ. This will mean forgiving them. You are to let resentment drop and pray for them. In so doing, you release your heart from the attempt of "the bird catcher" to snare you. (Psa.91:3) Continuing in the way of Christ will set you free from a position of manipulated (and therefore victimised) into a position of influential (and therefore victorious). Joh.20:23, Mat.5:44.
The apostle Paul, in the spirit of the prophet, knew what was coming. God's Spirit showed him what we would find ourselves up against. Knowing this he wrote down the counsel needed to deal with it. When you are tempted to get down at the way people are behaving remember God had His prophets prophesy of their behaviour. We have been forewarned and forearmed for such a time by God's word through His prophets. In the Bible, we see a pattern in scripture. The Bible tells us, "This is what it will be like" and then it follows this up with counsel, "And this is how, in the midst of it all, My people will overcome!"
Don't get down at the way people are behaving! The devil in their behaviour is instigating tribulation trying to get you down and prone to quit the walk of faith. The devil is worried by your successes when he does this. On the other hand, God is excited. God counsels you to do exactly the opposite to quitting. He says, "Continue!" He exhorts, "Continue in the soundly expounded word of the truth you've been receiving and remember the good spiritual credentials of the ones who've been expounding it!"
Continue your walk in Christ! Col.2:6.
