Keeping your heart at liberty

by Pastor Simon

Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.

2 Timothy 3:13-14 - NKJV

In the world there are people who would make your life a misery. When they try, watch your attitude. Instead of raging, continue in Christ's way. Forgive them and let resentment drop. Pray for them. By so doing, you release your heart from the "bird catcher's snare". (See Psa.91:3) By it, you are set free from a position of manipulated (i.e. victimised) into a position of influential (i.e. victorious). Joh.20:23, Mat.5:44.

The apostle Paul knew what was coming. The Holy Spirit had showed him what you would be up against so he could provide counsel on how to deal with it. Are you inclined to get down at the way people are behaving? Remember that God had His prophets predict their behaviour! God's word by His prophets came so that you could be forewarned and forearmed. For this reason, we get a scripture pattern of, "This is what it will be like" followed by His counsel, "And this is how, in the midst of it all, My people will overcome!"

Don't get down at the way people are behaving! By them the devil is sending that kind of tribulation trying to get you to quit. He's worried by the successes you've been having. On the contrary, God is excited. He counsels you to do exactly the opposite to quit. He says, "Continue!" He exhorts, "Continue in the soundly expounded word of the truth you've been receiving and remember the good spiritual credentials of the ones who've been expounding it!"

Continue your walk in Christ! Col.2:6.
