The Way of Prayer

by Pastor Simon

As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

Acts 13:2 - NKJV

The disciples knew they needed to get their direction from God so they fasted and He spoke wonderfully! Fasting means there's no need to leave off worship in order to prepare meals and eat. You can stay wholly in the Lord's presence in order to minister to Him and receive from Him. What happened to the disciples next? They received exciting direction. At this, did they rush off to pack? No. Rather they prayed further. They got the vision, then they sort the power to attain the vision!

Have you in a time of worship received vision or direction from the Lord? Before you rush off into it - stop! Those things you saw and heard from the Lord are wonderful but you need more from the Lord. That "more" will come to you in more prayer. Prayer is like the ignition key in your car. Let prayer turn on the engine of God's Spirit so you can go forwards in His plan! In prayer you'll get clarity about God's plan and you'll get God's dynamic power working for you in it!

Here's how to move forward into the vision you have received. Step one: pray for the plan. Step two: pray for the power for the plan! The first step means lingering in the Lord's presence until you hear His Spirit forming the details of His plan within you. The second step is presenting your requests specifically for His power. In response to your petitions God will supply all the power and even the road and bridges to travel on. Isa.42:16

Move forwards by prayer!
