Christ's Word of Power
He (Jesus) is the sole expression of the glory of God, and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God's] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power.
Hebrews 1:3 - Amplified Bible.
This scripture above reveals so much! This is who Jesus is! He is the very imprint and image of God's nature. He is sole expression of God's glory. That's who He is what does it say He does? He maintains and guides the universe with His word. In other words, this scripture reveals that our Lord Jesus with the same word with which He made the universe now upholds it. Think of that. This should mean much to you personally. For it means, since Jesus upholds the universe with His word how much more can He uphold you and your life. Joh.1:1-3.
I'm reminded of a story I heard about a man who was seen crawling fearfully forwards over the ice of a frozen river in the Great Lakes region. He was inching forward on hands and knees when from behind him came a shuddering and rumbling. He turned his head to look. There approaching furiously across the ice was a driver and horses pulling a waggon-load of pig iron! What he has thought could hardly hold his weight was upholding thousands of times that weight!
Which person are you like? Are you like the crawler or the driver? Jesus has given you His mighty word of power. What happens now? Do you crawl fearfully forwards on it or do you trust all your load to it and thunder forwards? Too many Christians are like the crawler. Let's change that. Let's commit ourselves to Jesus' Word, wholly trusting it to see us over to our next destination in Christ! Mat.14:22-33.
Jesus' Word upholds the universe!
