New habit for a new life

by Pastor Simon

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - NKJV

God calls you to a new habit in life. Your old habit is acknowledging yourself and doing what "naturally" seems right. Now you're called to a new habit of acknowledging God and getting your direction from Him. Prayer time is when this will mostly happen. You commune heart to heart with God and acknowledge you need His guidance. It means acknowledging God's Word too. You have to acknowledge that God's word has the life counsel you need.

I avoid relying on my memory of what a scripture says. You'd be amazed how mixed up people get about the things of God because they go by their memory of how they heard a scripture instead of looking it up in their Bibles. I always try to look up a scripture so I can check its wording. For example, did Jesus say, "I will give you the keys to the kingdom" or "of the kingdom"? Your memory may well tell you He said "to" but, in fact, He said "of". There's a big difference in that. If you have the keys to a place those keys just get you in, whereas if you have th keys of a place it means you've got full access to all the rooms! Mat.16:19.

God's word has such a wealth of grace, favour and provision that our human ears find it difficult to hear it as it says it. Do you know what to do about that? Take time to have your eyes convince your ears of what God's word says! Go to scripture and say, "Look ears, what God actually says!" or "Look ears. God is better to me than you can hear!" For a great lesson on how to properly attend to God's word study Proverbs 4:20-22.

Let your eyes show your ears God's Word
