Christian decision making
Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles.
Luke 6:12-13 - NKJV.
Is there a decision that needs making in your life? The scripture portion above tells how Jesus went about making a decision. He had to choose the twelve - the ones who would be called apostles. How did He approach that choice? He spent extended time in continuous prayer to the Father! Before you make your decision follow Jesus in His example of prayer.
I get a boost to my prayer life whenever I read Luke's accounts of Jesus in prayer. The Gospel of Luke tells you more about the prayer life of Jesus than any other Gospel. Luke describes to us times Jesus took in prayer and words He spoke in prayer. He provides us with examples of Jesus praying to the Father before He took decisions and before every other kind of task that He faced. Have a look in Luke's Gospel at how prayer proceeded all that Jesus did.
Jesus' ministry was led by prayer. Your life and service to God has to be led by prayer too. Let your commitment to following Jesus show up in your commitment to following Him in prayer! Jesus because of His prayer life was able to declare, "I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner." When you give prayer the same priority Jesus gave it, you'll see and hear what God the Father perceives as best. Then, like Jesus, you'll be ready to do it. Joh.5:19.
Let prayer be your way forward!
