Jesus has triumphed

by Pastor Simon

The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. For the terrible one is brought to nothing, the scornful one is consumed.

Isaiah 29:20 - NKJV

God by the mouth of Isaiah declares the bringing to nothing of the terrible one, the devil, by the Holy One, Jesus Christ. This is what the prophetic word uttered by Isaiah, and recorded in the Bible verse above, proclaims. How was this defeat accomplished? The Cross of Christ started it and the resurrection finished it! By the mighty power of God's glory Jesus rose out of hades ("hell") having stripped the devil of his power and having brought him to nothing. Now to us there is ever increasing joy. Heb.2:14; Col.2:15.

The devil is a defeated foe. He is, though, a very stubborn loser. He hangs around the Earth refusing to accept his defeat. He prowls about trying to illegally, subversively re-establish himself in the Earth by fraud. This is the reason you may regularly find yourself getting a lot of trouble from him. If he spots an opening he will try by fear, deceit or bullying to get you to hand over ground to him. In the face of this, give the devil his marching orders whenever he intrudes into your affairs!

Partake of the triumph Christ won for you. Follow the pattern of words Jesus used and say, "Be gone under my authority, and keep on going, behind me, out of my sight, Satan!" You don't have to engage in a prolonged combat, your spoken word of authority enough. This authority is yours - given to you by Jesus - as a believer and follower of Christ. Declare boldly whenever faced with the devil's threats, "I resist you Satan and you must flee. Jesus has brought you to nought. He has redeemed me!" Luk.10:19; Mat.16:23.

You are more than a conqueror through Jesus
