The Psalms

by Pastor Simon

Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Psalm 73:23-24 - NKJV

I find a blessing in Psalms. They are my spiritual breakfast that get me going spiritually for the day. I might not feel like praising but psalms prime me for praise. I might not feel like tackling the day but psalms strengthen me for victory. Psalms are such a central and integral part of my devotional time! As much as I pray in tongues in devotions I also pray in psalms. 1Cor.14:15.

Could God have arranged for the word "psalms" to begin with "P" to remind us of what they provide? They provide praise, prayer, proclamations, promises and prophecy - five prime elements of psalms! What a gift from God to you and me! Open your Bible to Psalms. Read the book of psalms aloud until you find one that expresses your heart. Meditate upon it in this way and begin finding the praise, the prayer, the proclamation, the promises and the prophecy. Eph.5:19.

Thank God for giving the psalmist the words that express so well the yearnings, aches and - at times - the confusion of your heart. Pray aloud to the Father that psalm that expresses what's in your heart. A prayer like that comes before the Father. Where the psalm contains God's promise let it comfort your heart and present that promise to God for His fulfilment! Where the psalm has God's declarations over His people let your voice declare it afresh and aloud in the earth! Take the psalm up in your mouth as the psalmist would have done! Be expressive, passionate and emotional with that psalm. It will change things!

Psalms are your opportunity for restoration
