Discipleship!

by Pastor Simon

Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Mark 8:34 - NKJV.

From the moment I received Jesus in 1975 I wanted to be His disciple. Believers, who were older than me in the Lord, saw this desire in me and showed me this verse. It challenged my lifestyle, my life plans and the path through life I was on but I went with it anyway! For me the fullness of Christianity had to be in discipleship.

What do you think? Are you content to plod along in nominal Christianity or is it in your heart to be Jesus' disciple? If it is, then here's how!

First, deny yourself. Where you were once self-conscious now be Christ-conscious. Forget self-confidence too; be confident in Christ. Don't rely on self-help; resort to Christ's help. Second, take up your cross. God has a purpose in your life; take it up and carry it. It'll be death to your flesh but it'll mean resurrection life to your spirit. Third, follow Jesus. Start taking the same road that He travels in company with Him and continue to do so moment by moment. (K.S. Wuest)
