Healthy heart, holy life!
It's what comes out of a person that pollutes: obscenities, lusts, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, depravity, deceptive dealings, carousing, mean looks, slander, arrogance, foolishness - all these are vomit from the heart. There is the source of your pollution.
Mark 7:20-23 - The Message
It's the heart of man that needs a change! All of man's efforts to legislate righteousness will not eliminate wickedness. It is only a change of heart that can do this! Pray for people to come to Christ. Pray that they may receive that change of heart that comes at the new birth. Fundamental change for people at the heart level comes in the new birth by the washing and regeneration of the Holy Spirit. Eze.36:26, Tit.3:5-6.
Pray also that God sets the inclination of your own heart right. Lydia, the purple seller of Thyatira, must have been praying like this as she gathered with the other women for prayer. God responded. He sent Paul to preach to her. At the same time, God gave her a posture of heart open to acting on what Paul preached. Lydia received the word preached with all openness of heart and by it she was saved. She was saved and soon her household was saved. It was the start of the church at Philippi. See Acts 16.
Pray to the Father for a posture of heart that is inclined to His testimonies. His testimonies are all the messages He shares with you in scripture. From the heart be inclined to seek His testimonies and to do them. This inclination of heart will give you health of heart. From this health will come a holiness of life for once God sets your heart right in that way it will give rise to actions, words and purposes that are right with God and right for you and others.
