Prayer as a spiritual activity

by Pastor Simon

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God...praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.

Ephesians 6:10,11,18 - NKJV

Do you pray for others? How can you get beyond praying for yourself to where you are effectively praying for them? You can by being strong in the Lord and residing in the power of His might! In this condition, the whole armour of God becomes easy to put on and wear comfortably. In it, you can be a prayer warrior on behalf of others! Heb.11:34.

On one particular morning I was struggling to start praying for someone dear to me who was in great need. I wanted to know what was making it a struggle so I looked to the Holy Spirit. Immediately He made me know in my inner man that what was needed was for me to stop praying out of my own power and strength. I needed to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, not attempting prayer as if strong in myself. At this, I let go of my own strength and welcomed His strength. Instantly I was liberated to pray! I experienced the release of being able to pray fervently and effectively. Ro.8:27.

Intercessionary prayer is a communion between God who is Spirit and you as His children. Your prayer can be the link for someone between Heaven's light, wisdom and life and their condition on earth. As you pray in God's spiritual strength and power your petitions in prayer can be powerful. Prayer is a spiritual activity. It can make a way for the accomplishing of extraordinary things. May you be a believer who prays fervently in the Lord's strength and in all sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit! Ja.5:16.

Pray in the Lord's strength!
