Our privilege to know

by Pastor Simon

Of whom (the Son, Jesus Christ) we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.

Hebrews 5:11 - NKJV

There is so much to say about Jesus and we haven't even begun to hear it all! What was it that the writer of Hebrews was especially looking to say about Jesus? In Hebrews 8:1 he declares, "This is the main point of the things we are saying: we have a High Priest - Jesus Christ!" The Spirit of God yearns to provide to every believer with the knowledge of Jesus in His Heavenly ministry - as High Priest and Minister of the Sanctuary.

A knowledge of Christ's life in the presence of God is our privilege to possess as believers. We need to have more than just the knowledge of Jesus in His earthly ministry. We need to go forwards into the knowledge of Jesus in Heaven. It is available to you. In the letter to the Hebrews you have the revelation of Jesus as High Priest in Heaven in God's presence. As you hear this revelation, by God's Spirit you will also hear the revelation of what Jesus has performed on your behalf in the presence of the Father. You will also know what He lives to do for you. Heb.7:25.

What might be stopping you receiving this? The dullness of your spiritual hearing! How can you sharpen it? Isaiah's counsel is, "Draw water with joy from the wells of salvation!" Take a fresh look at how amazing God's Word is and get excited about it. Acknowledge what revelation it holds and let your esteem of it rise high. Approach the word with joy and an eagerness for the Holy Spirit to teach you as you read. May you hear what the Spirit reveals of Jesus Christ!

Thirst for God and the knowledge of Him!
