God's beautiful pity

by Pastor Simon

As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

Psalm 103:13-14 - NKJV

The pity the Lord has for us is so special. It's the beautiful pity found among Christian parents when they behold their precious, tiny, new born baby. How the hearts of those parents go out to their child. Their desire is so strong to cherish, provide and protect for their little one. The Lord is this way with us. Psa.145:8-9.

I am to God as a new born is to Christian parents. I may not feel at times like a new born but in the scale of eternity I certainly am. What comfort is to be found in that. It is comforting to know God feels about me that way. He's not expecting too much of me. He recognises that life's new to me and at times I won't get things quite right. He enjoys seeing my attempts at it, though, especially when I do it in joy. He's delighted also when I ask Him to give me a hand or show me how it's done. And, if I'll let Him, when I do make a mess He's on hand to mop it up for me. Psa.37:23-24.

Are you letting Him have such a relationship with you? It's sad that a lot of Christians remind one of an independent toddler who won't accept mother's help with the buttons. Our Heavenly Father is happy to help. Rather than us struggling on getting no where God would like us to enjoy and appreciate His help and care. The time will come with maturity in Christ that He will set us tasks requiring minimal intervention from Him. In the meantime, enjoy His beautiful pity for you. Let it exhibit itself in the help He's so willing to provide. Joh.16:23-24.

You are to God His much beloved little child
