Jesus cried aloud, "He who believes in me, from within him - as the Scripture has said - rivers of living water shall flow." He referred to the Spirit which those who believed in Him were to receive.

John 7:38-39 - Weymouth's Translation

You've probably heard the expression "an outpouring of the Holy Spirit". What is the picture you have of that? Do you see a downpour like heavy rain? Or do you see a gushing up and overflowing from within? Maybe in truth it's both but the outpouring Jesus cried aloud about was one coming from within the believer. He declared a gush from within sourcing rivers of living water!

The Holy Spirit comes into your life to be within you at your request. He then speaks in you. Jesus told his disciples that in crucial moments it would not be them speaking but "the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you". In this way you are able to tell forth divine counsel. It is a ministry of the Holy Spirit from within you. Those who minister under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit bring life to those who receive it because a river of living water flows from them which has its source in God. "Everything will live wherever the river goes!" Luk.11:13, Mat.10:20, Eze.47:9.

Let your thirst for God also be a thirst for His word! Such a thirst draws up living water from the Holy Spirit within you. Drink of this water and it will set up in you a gushing fountain bringing a glorious refreshing. Minister outward to others from this and they can partake of living water. It is a water that quenches a thirst so deep within man that only God can satisfy it. It is a water that carries with it God's life, Absolute Life. Joh.4:14.
