Immanuel

by Pastor Simon

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 - NKJV

What a God we have who makes such assurances! He declares He is with you and for you. He promises His ever present help, strength and upholding. In that scripture above given by the mouth of Isaiah the prophet God declares, "I am your God." Because you are His child, through your declared faith in Christ Jesus, this wonderful word is for you. To you He gives assurance of His nearness and ever present help. Joh.1:12-13.

The angel declared the Child was to be named Jesus. Alongside this, Isaiah declared his name was to be called "Immanuel" which in translation means "God with us". (Mat.1:23) Look at our Lord Jesus ministering on earth as Christ and you see the perfect picture of God with His people. Jesus came to dwell among us. Jesus came down from Heaven to live with us here on earth. He was born as a man. Nevertheless, He was no less God. The creator and upholder of all things walked among us. This is how willing God is to be God for us right by our sides. As we read the words that come to us by the prophet Isaiah we hear in our hearts God's reassurance. It is as though He were saying, "I have brought Myself down to your side, I have drawn in all My immenseness to stand beside you. I have come to you out of infinity to stand with you in the here and now at every moment."

Rest in the Lord and enjoy the journey He accompanies you on. God is always with you in all your doings and goings. God, your God, is Absolute Deity - Lord of heaven and earth - yet here He is right with you holding your hand on earth. The way this makes me feel is expressed by the psalmist, "I was so foolish and ignorant...Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand." Psa.73:22-23.

Awesome God, yet ever present God
