The Name of Jesus

by Pastor Simon

Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.

Acts 3:6 - NKJV

What are you focused on? Do you focus on what you have or does what you don't have catch your focus? Focusing on what you don't have can leave you missing the divine opportunity. The apostle Peter didn't miss his opportunity. He didn't let what he didn't have hold him back. He had his focus elsewhere. He had it on the Name of Jesus and the authority and salvation it represented and determined for every believer.

The apostle Peter was on his way into the temple. His route took him past a lame man. He had nothing in his purse to meet the man's expectation of alms. Nevertheless, he had something far beyond his own resources from which he could give. Here was an opportunity for God to be glorified and His work to be known. At that moment Peter was Christ-conscious. He was not focused on what he lacked in the natural. Instead he was conscious of the gift of God given him in Christ Jesus. By that gift, in the name of Jesus, he commanded restoration to the man! With that, strength came into the man's feet and ankle bones and he got up and walked!

God didn't call you because you were rich or mighty in this world. God has chosen you as "the poor of this world" to be rich in faith and an heir of His kingdom. Your physical capability account may show a deficit but your spiritual account in Christ is always topped up. Christ in you the hope of glory. This is the account you are to be mindful of. "You've got nothing," they say. "So what," you reply, "Christ has everything for me!" Col.1:27.

There's an opportunity today in Christ!
