Blessed to be a blessing
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Ephesians 4:28 - KJV
The redemption Christ paid for with His blood clears the way for the blessing of Abraham to come upon us. If you been hearing the words of promise God has given in Christ then you will have heard God's desire to bless you. He also has a greater desires beyond this desire. He desires that we be a blessing. He looks for us to receive the blessing that we may be a blessing. As a result, He often says in His word something like this, "Give Me something to work with so this can happen!" Gal.3:13-14.
God's vision for us as Christians is the same one He had for Abraham. To Abraham He said, "I will bless you and you will be a blessing!" Like Abraham, we cannot just stay where we are and expect this condition to come upon us. Like Abraham, we have to move forwards and travel onwards into the glorious future God has for us. For this reason, in promise after promise in scripture we hear God in one way or another declare, "Move away from what, as your lower nature dictated, you were doing and move into what I draw you towards by my Spirit. For in that relocated sphere of activity I can bless you!" Gen.12:2-3.
God exhorts us to have hands on involvement in an honest work project. This will give Him something to work with. He can bless the works of our hands! Once your hands are on some work then He's got something to bless. In it He can prosper and increase you. What is more, He will do this to the point where you'll not only be meeting your own needs but meeting the needs of others also! Deut.28:8,12-13.
May you find the place of blessing!
