Cling to Jesus
Jesus said to Mary, 'Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'
John 20:17 - NKJV
The interaction between Mary Magdalene and Jesus near the empty tomb is precious. In it Mary was the first one called to preach the resurrection. Note the contrasts with the story featuring Simon Peter after Jesus' betrayal. Mary near the Tomb wanted to cling to Jesus while Peter after Gethsemane "followed at a distance". Mary was commissioned while Peter "went out and wept bitterly". Luk.22:54,62.
May we all be like Mary who wanted to cling to Jesus. Mary loved Jesus so much she wanted to be more than close to Him - she wanted to be inseparable from Him. Clinging to Jesus is not weakness declaring itself but weakness being made strong. Clinging to Jesus is where you partake of His strength. Clinging to Jesus is where the fragrance of resurrection gets on you. Clinging to Jesus is where the anointing on Him is sure to be on you too. Psa.45:6-9.
This is what your love for Jesus will do for you - it will make you want to get so close to Him that you can cling to Him. You can only cling to Jesus when you live intimately close to Him. A love from the heart for Jesus born of a knowledge of His love for you will cause you to adhere to His teachings - you will choose to walk according to His Word rather than the word of any other. In doing this you will remain so close to Jesus as to be able to cling to Him! Joh.14:23.
In Jesus' arms is where your life can be complete.
