The Daily Guide
Let love liberate!
This I pray, that your love may have abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ.
Philippians 1:9-10 - NKJV
Why does Paul pray like that? Because there's is a glorious condition that your love - the love of God you have within - is capable of producing in you! It is a condition of liberty. It's you set free by God's love from envy, hurt feelings and personal comparisons. This condition is glorious because in it you start to see people as God sees them. You will glimpse something of their worth in His sight and in seeing that you will recognise more of your own worth in His eyes too. 1Cor.13:4-8.
As humans we often struggle with a sense of inferiority. Don't give place to it! You are of great worth in the eyes of God! If you give place to it you will soon also succumb to envy. Envy is what happens when you unfavourably compare yourself with others. Envy is unconsciously wishing you had what another person has. Envy will distort your vision of people and the events and actions connected with them. What's more, envy stops you receiving those whom you envy and prevents you benefiting from what they could be imparting into your life.
Let God's love free you from envy! Give that love - God's love poured out in your heart by the Holy Spirit - the opportunity to deal with envy in your life. When you do, you'll find old relationships being restored and new ones being formed. You'll discover people you discounted in your life actually having something to offer you that's of real value. God's love can free you to enjoy the company and contribution of people He brings you in contact with. Ro.5:5.
Let God's love set you free!
