Escape to God's goodness

by Pastor Simon

Jehoahaz pleaded with the Lord, and the Lord listened to him; for the Lord saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them. Then the Lord gave Israel a deliverer, so that they escaped from under the hand of the Syrians.

2 Kings 13:4-5 - NKJV

This story from the Bible is written for your encouragement. It tells us about the deliverance from oppression of Jehoahaz and his people. We see how Jehoahaz cried out to the Lord over the oppression of his people and God listened. God, in fact, had already seen the oppression and He was just waiting for this cry for deliverance. The moment He got it He moved to deliver.

Your call to the Lord for deliverance is the invitation He's waiting for. You don't have to live with oppression. Oppression prevents you experiencing the goodness of the Lord in your life. Indeed, absence of the experience of the goodness of the Lord in a child of God's life is a principle sign of oppression. This is the place Jehoahaz found himself in. Look at your own life. If you feel shut off from the supply, protection and well-being God granted to you in Christ then it sounds like the devil's orchestrating oppression in your life. The solution? Call upon the Lord! Jesus Christ is God's gift to you. He is your deliverer from oppression and the oppressor. See Acts 10:38.

God desires His people to be free from oppression. When God's people are held back by oppression from all the goodness He has provided for them this is a sadness to His heart. God will hear the cry for deliverance from oppression. God is yearning to deliver you from oppression. He sees the oppression and He's waiting for your call. He longs to bring you out into every good thing He has promised you in Christ Jesus. Psa.33:5, 103:6.

Call on the Lord, your deliver
