The Daily Guide
The Spirit of Truth
I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatsoever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
John 16:12-13 - NKJV
I'm going to paraphrase that verse for you. "Before we can go any further with this," Jesus says, "you're going to need the Holy Spirit." He explains, "Once you've got the Holy Spirit He can teach you how everything I've said fits together. He'll show you how it connects with everything God has said before this!" As He says this He promises, "I am going to send the Holy Spirit to you. He will guide and tutor you. As you start to get hold of what I've said He'll pick up from where I left off and take you further."
I desire for the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth and tell me things to come. I can then order my life accordingly. I'm eager to be taken further. I want to continue in the place where Jesus is able to carry on teaching me by the Holy Spirit from where He left off. How is this going to happen? Firstly, by giving the Holy Spirit time and, secondly, by taking in what Jesus has already said. The Holy Spirit builds on what you have heard from Jesus as you've read the Bible. Act.2:38, Luk.11:13.
Treasuring what Jesus has already said positions you to hear anew from Him by His Spirit. As you live by and in the words Jesus Christ has already given then you set yourself up to hear from the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. You will hear words of comfort, exhortation and direction for your life. This dynamic, living word for your life comes to you when you are treasuring God's recorded word. 14:26.
Let the living word give you guidance!
