Words of life!

by Pastor Simon

Yes, He humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna...He did it to teach you that people need more than bread for their life; real life comes by feeding on every word of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 8:3 - New Living Translation

God's Word is something we can't live without. Yes, man tries to but look how he sufferers as a result. We live in a body and have a soul but man is first of all a spiritual being. The real wholeness of our entire being arises from our spirits. It is from a healthy, well-nourished spirit that come forces of life that invigorate and revitalise both body and soul. Prov.18:14.

While reflecting on that verse above I was reminded of a newspaper article I read about a medical condition that seems to be quite prevalent these days. The article listed the symptoms of this condition as persistent fatigue, physical unsteadiness and sleep disturbances. It then stated, "Sufferers can help themselves by eating healthily and getting plenty of rest." "That's a significant response," I thought, "Spiritually, when we neglect to nourish ourselves on God's Word we all start to suffer like people with that condition - even to the point of physical manifestations." We can help ourselves. We can eat healthily on God's Word while daily finding rest in Jesus! Job 23:12, Jer.15:16.

As good physical food is to the body so God's Word is to the spirit! It is a source of energy and nourishment sustaining life in our spirits. As we feed on God's Word it conveys spirit and life to us with benefits to our entire being. Your overall well-being will dramatically improve if you learn to feed on, and make a habit of feeding on, God's Word. You'll experience the fullness of life that God intended for you if you take God's Word into your innermost being, that is, your heart. Joh.6:63.

Nourish your spirit on God's Word!
