A vision for harvest
Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:8-10 - NKJV
What is this 'sowing to the Spirit' the verse above is speaking of? It's what you're doing when you're giving of yourself - your strength, your possessions, your time or your talents - to the glory of God and for the increase of His kingdom. Sow consistently to the Spirit and the garden of your heart will flourish with God's righteousness, His peace and His joy! 1Pet.1:10-11, Ro.14:17.
How can you be a consistent sower to the Spirit? You have to see by faith what you are sowing for! You have to keep a vision for doing the fine thing - the Holy Spirit pleasing thing. Where does faith and vision like this come from? You'll find it in your Bible. God's Word gives encouragement, comfort and assurance of a harvest that is independent of the prevailing economic and social conditions around you. By consistently sowing to the Spirit it is the realm of the Spirit that you confidently and expectantly look toward. Mat.6:19-21.
There are times when the harvest seems long in coming and you're tempted to grow weary. At such times go to God's Word in prayer. Stop yourself losing heart by using the faith and vision given you by God's Spirit. Allow God's Spirit to minister encouragement to you. Jesus calls you to look towards Him and be refreshed so you can journey onwards to the place of receiving! Heb.12:1-2.
Keep your vision for harvest strong!
