God's lovingkindness

by Pastor Simon

I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 89:1 - NKJV

The psalmist declared he'd sing of the Lord's mercies forever. The Lord's mercies must be very special! There's more to the Lord's mercies than you imagine. The word "mercies" is translated from the Hebrew word "checed" (pronounced kheh-sed). "Checed" is a covenant word. "Checed" finds its free expression in God's covenant relationship with His people. It meant so much to the psalmist that he was determined to sing about it always. To him it meant God's covenant plainly visible in his life. Psa.36:7.

"Lovingkindness" is another way that the Hebrew word "checed" is translated. I like the word "lovingkindness". God's lovingkindness is precious! God's lovingkindness is something you should always be conscious of. When you realise have precious it is you'll sing about it. As a Christian, it is the Lord's lovingkindness towards you that gives rise to your well-being and prosperity. The protection you enjoy and the successes you have come about because God delights in expressing His covenant relationship with you by His lovingkindness.

Celebrate the Lord's lovingkindness in song! Get excited about the way God expresses His New Covenant relationship with you! God loves to express this eternal covenant by His favour, mercies and lovingkindness towards you. His New Covenant relationship with you is unfailing. It keeps you from destructions. It has prepared the way for prosperity in your life. Rejoice that you have been brought into a covenant relationship with God by Jesus Christ! Lam.3:22-24.

Sing with joy over God's lovingkindness!
