Living in the Vine
Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can't bear grapes of itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can't bear fruit unless you are joined with me.
John 15:4 - The Message
On the day you came to Jesus and received Him as your Saviour you were joined with Him. You took up your place in Him and He took up His place in you. You need to realise what a special condition now exists! There is a dynamic spiritual residing in one another. The apostle Paul proclaimed it this way, "He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him". 1 Cor.6:17.
We have an out-of-this-world union with Jesus and it is designed to have a down-to-earth effect on your life! As a Christian, this oneness with Jesus is to wonderfully empower you for life! This oneness with Christ is supernatural in character but it is designed to have natural expression for you. It's expression is to be notable and noticeable. How can you have this as a genuine daily experience? By communing with Jesus. You have to rest in Him, enjoy His care and feed on His supply of life and strength. By it you will come into a trusting dependency which creates in you a wonderful sense of rest. Col.2:6-7.
Jesus gave us a picture of this! He called Himself the vine and referred to us as the branches. As a branch is connected and united to the vine so is your relationship to be with Jesus! Reside in Jesus and let Him reside in you. By this you will experience fruit developing in your life. This fruit of God in your life will bless you and those around you! You will experience fruit coming to maturity in your life and you'll know that it was of God and not of you. Joh.15:5.
You are united to Christ the Vine!
