Great faith people

by Pastor Simon

He (Jesus) says to them (the disciples), Because of the littleness of your faith. For, assuredly I am saying to you, if you are having faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Remove hence to that place, and it shall remove.

Matthew 17:20 - Wuest's Expanded Translation

There's more to faith than believing! Look at what Jesus said to the disciples. They were believing for the cure of an epileptic child. However, when it came to the showdown their faith wasn't up to the task. Afterwards Jesus responded to a question they asked about it. In essence they asked, "Why didn't it happen? We acted on this child's behalf believing for a result." Jesus replied, "Because of your little faith!"

Faith is a spiritual condition you exist in. As a result you can be a great faith person or a little faith person or a no faith person. Great faith people are those who believe, love with God's love, forgive and commune with God. The centurion, whose servant Jesus healed, is given by Jesus as an example of a great faith person. On the other hand, the disciples at that time were called little faith people. To put their condition right He exhorted them to prayer and fasting. Mark 9:29.

Jesus likened faith to a seed. Believing is the seed itself but its ability to produce depends on the conditions in which it is kept. It is the seed I sow in the ground with warmth from the sun and water adequate for its growth that brings forth a product. How can you have faith to produce great things? Keep your faith seed in a condition where you love with the love of God, forgive as God forgives and pray with the kind of prayer whose essence is worship and devotion.

Your faith can produce to God's glory
