Ask the Father

by Pastor Simon

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 7:11 - KJV

We should respond to these recent disasters with intercession. Let's intercede for the destitute and afflicted so that God can act on their behalf. Pray for the relief of the widows and the orphans. We ought to be moved by compassion for people weary and scattered in just the way Jesus was. God acts when His people ask. See to God's provision being brought on to the scene of people's lives by asking God to give it. Mat.9:36.

God mobilises aid at our request. We can compare this with sovereign states today. States wait for a request for assistance from a nation that has suffered a catastrophe. They wait because they do not want to interfere in a sovereign nation's affairs without an invitation. As soon as they are invited they mobilise relief. If nations of the world answer calls in time of need how much more shall God answer the call of His people. I've experienced prayers we pray for the oppressed and for the needy in affliction are answered quickly and dramatically! Jer.33:3.

Be moved with compassion for people of the nations caught up in war or devastated by disaster. Make request to God in compassion for them in the Name of Jesus. Ask the Lord, "Send Your help, comfort and rescue, Lord, for these afflicted people! Do mighty works to re-establish peace in these strife-torn or disaster-hit lands and lives." In praying for others you'll find help arriving on the scene of your life too. 1Tim.2:1-4.

God intervenes at your request
