Standing in Christ's victory
You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
Psalm 118:13-14 - NKJV
Have you fallen? Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back into Christ's victory. Christ's victory is yours but you have to keep placing yourself in it. Given the chance the devil will push you violently. Don't lie in defeat for a moment! The Lord helps you. He's your strength and song.
Jesus under temptation in the wilderness resisted the devil. Sensing defeat the devil backed off. Nevertheless, this wasn't the end of the trouble Jesus had with him. He left but the Bible says, "The devil left him until another more opportune time". In fact the devil kept butting his ugly head in throughout Jesus' ministry and Jesus had to deal with him each time. No wonder the devil is likened to a lion seeking prey. The devil prowls about looking for an opportunity to devour. Thank God you can see to it that he doesn't get opportunity! The Bible declares, "The one who has been born again keeps himself and the wicked one does not touch him." Luk.4:13, Mat.16:23, 1Joh.5:18.
How do you keep yourself? You do it by keeping yourself up close to your Shepherd! You have to maintain close fellowship with God. There are five essential things you need each day for this: prayer, the Word, the Spirit, Jesus and fellowship. Be fervent in prayer, take God's Word to heart, yield to the Spirit, cling to Jesus and stay in the fellowship of other Christians! Do all these things with consistency and the devil won't ever be making a dinner out of you!
With Christ you'll stand!
