Strength in confidence
The Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says, 'Only in returning to me and waiting for me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.'
Isaiah 30:15 - New Living Translation
In Indonesia around about 1987 I was ministering the verse above to a young businessman. As I read aloud the verse's closing phrase he breathed a sigh of frustration and said, "Oh no, that's like me!" The Holy Spirit had given him a revelation. He saw how he was always muddling on in his own strength. Psa.118:14.
How much like that are we? How much are we missing out on God's rescue because we fail to return to God and rest in Him? Is it any surprise we find ourselves getting worn out? We're too often missing out on the strength that quietness and confidence can give us! It's a sad cycle of affairs we get ourselves caught in. We struggle on without our rescue and get tired out in the process because the quietness and confidence we need isn't there to give us strength because we haven't turned aside for quality time with God.
What are you to do about this? By turning aside from your frantic activity to be in God's presence find the quietness and confidence that is strength to you! Turn again to be in the Lord's presence that you may receive salvation from whatever might otherwise harm you. As you wait upon God with worship and praise His power will come upon you, His quietness and confidence will take hold of you and you will find new strength to go on to receive from God your rescue.
Turn aside for your rescue into God's presence!
