Broadcasting for God
Jesus stood still and commanded him (Bartimaeus) to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good comfort. Rise, He is calling you.
Mark 10:49 - NKJV
There's a desperation about our world today. People in their desperation call out to God. Sadly, though, many fail to hear Him when He responds by calling back to them. Like Bartimaeus, they continue sitting in the dust of life. They know God is good but they don't realise His goodness is towards them. We need to let them know that it is! Like the disciples walking with Jesus in Jericho, we need to relay to them His call!
People need encouraging. They need to be encouraged that Jesus hears their cry. They need encouraging that He wants to save them from their afflictions and provide them with the rescue they have cried out for. Often people have been down so long they think that is just how it has to be in their lives. Like Bartimaeus, they sit in beggar's garments and watch everyone and every thing pass them by. It's our job to call out to them. We are commissioned to say to them, "Take courage! Get up! Jesus is calling you." We must let them know Jesus is ready and waiting to heal, restore and save them.
Blind Bartimaeus did not need a second call once he heard that glorious message relayed to him. He sprang to his feet, threw aside his old garment in life and came to Jesus for the garment of salvation. Let's fervently intercede for those to whom we relay Jesus' loving call. Let's pray that they may respond to it as eagerly and excitedly as Bartimaeus did! Isa.61:10.
