Pleasures forevermore
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11 - NKJV
How many Christians, when thinking of pleasures, think of "pleasures forevermore at the right hand of God"? It's probably not very many. Yet, it is declared in that scripture above. The Holy Spirit moved God's psalmist David to declare it as a wonderful truth. Pleasures forevermore are pleasures found in the presence of God at His throne. It is at the throne of God that we find life in which there is no death at all, light in which there is no darkness at all and love in which there is no fear at all. In the same way, we find pleasure there with no trace or aftermath of pain. Rev.4.
What a contrast God's pleasures forevermore are to the fleeting pleasures of sin! The fleeting pleasures of sin soon have their pain - some hangover or other payback for folly. Praise the Lord that with Him at His throne we have access to pleasures forevermore, that is, pleasures with no sorrow to follow! We can have a different experience of pleasure in the presence of the Lord. In the presence of the Lord there is pleasure to be experienced that is absolute in character! Eph.5:18-21, Heb.11:25.
John the Beloved had such an experience of pleasure. The Bible tells us he was "rapt in the Spirit's power on the Lord's Day". "Rapt" is a word of pleasure we meet in the word "enraptured". There is a heavenly rapture to be known in your place of worship and praise before the throne of God. As you praise and worship bathe in God's glory, be blessed by God's presence and be refreshed in your whole being by God's Holy Spirit! Rev.1:10 - Amplified.
May the pleasures of God's throne room be yours!
