Rescued from your enemies

by Pastor Simon

We have been rescued from our enemies, so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness forever.

Luke 1:74-75 - New Living Translation

What an exhilarating prophetic word that scripture above is! Zacharias uttered it. Take a moment to ponder it. You have been rescued from your enemies because God has sent us a redeemer who is Jesus Christ our Lord. As a consequence we are to serve God without fear. Now, realise this "our enemies" isn't just referring to people it is referring to all that comes out against us to ruin us, harm us or destroy us. For example, death is called an enemy. Christ has liberated us from the bondage of fear of death. Presently, there is still a season in which natural death occurs but finally Christ will subdue even that and "this mortal will put on immortality". Heb.2:14-15, 1 Cor.15:50-57.

The question is how do you see yourself in your world? What's your picture of you in your world? Make sure you have God's picture that's given to you by the Bible's description of Christ's work of redemption. Christ has redeemed you from your enemies. Today countless people see the world around them as hostile, dangerous and to be feared. The response of many of them to this is to try to isolate themselves from it. For some this even goes so far as them becoming captives in their own homes. As Christians we should know no such fear! Christ is our redeemer and He has redeemed us from our enemies. Psa.107:2.

Redemption sets you free to enjoy God's peace. Pray and read scriptures about redemption. God's Spirit will reveal for you in God's Word Christ's work of redemption as it is now available to you in this life. Live in the glorious liberty granted you in Christ. Let God's word on redemption set you free. Start with Gal.3:13-14 and Col.1:13-14.

You will be far from oppression
