The gift in Christ

by Pastor Simon

For if one man's offence meant that men should be slaves to death all their lives, it is a far greater thing that through another man, Jesus Christ, men by their acceptance of his more than sufficient grace and righteousness, should live their lives victoriously.

Romans 5:17 - J.B. Phillips' translation

The more I look at God's gift to us in Christ the more I'm in awe of its totality, its fullness, its completeness. There are no shortfalls to Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. There is no area untouched by the victory it brought for us. As acceptors of Christ's grace and righteousness we are in a position to live our lives victoriously!

How much of Christ's victory are you acknowledging and taking up in your life? Think about why it might be that you are not experiencing the completeness of what Christ has done. It's true that those who have accepted Jesus as Lord do at times suffer defeat. Nevertheless, victory is available. In the New Testament we are told of Christ's victory and how God has invited us to live together with Christ in that victory. God has moved in Christ to give us victory in all realms of our existence. God has provided this victory for His people by Christ's sacrifice at Calvary and His subsequent resurrection from the dead. See 1Cor.15:57, 2Cor.2:14, 1Pet.1:18-21.

Let's accept God's grace abundantly and walk in His gift of righteousness. Let's receive a revelation from God's Spirit of what Christ has done. Let's lay hold on eternal life in Jesus. Let's allow non-Christians to see God's testimony in our lives. Let's live our lives victoriously! There can be a testimony in our lives of Christ's victory. We can reign in life because of God's gift in Jesus.

Stride forwards into His victory!
